Hello, my friends, Peggy Moore here with the Discover Your Personal Power Podcast. It is June 24th, 2020 and it has been a crazy year, am I right? I don’t know about you guys, but I have really struggled with the quarantine situation. Staying at home, not being able to gather with my friends. It has been very isolating. Chatting via zoom or google meets just hasn’t been enough. And hugging - I miss hugging. I am a hugger. I spent years trying to conform to the social norm of not hugging, but as I have learned to become more confident in my own space and authentic, I found I am a hugger.
Did you know that hugs can boost the immune system? They can help lower the risk of heart disease and they produce the happy chemical oxytocin, the connection, and bonding chemical in the brain. Hugs are good for you.

It is a rainy day here in Okinawa. Which kind of sums up my mood a little bit for the week. It has been an emotional week for me. I love living in Okinawa and my husband and I have amazing jobs, but sometimes it is really hard to really get a feel for what is going on back in the US. I often feel like the news is so biased that I have to look at numerous sources to really try to understand the problem. The riots and turmoil in the United States have really had me struggling a little.
I am back taking grad classes this week. I took about 6weeks off to work on my coaching program and get my website up and get the...

I was so excited when my sister in law responded with the words self-worth. First let me tell you a little bit about my sister n law, Suzie. She is amazing. I have 3 sisters-in-law and they are all amazing and when they put a topic, I will tell you all about them, But today I want to just tell you a little bit about Suzi. There is just something about Suzie that just makes me feel so loved and accepted for who I am. I don’t have to pretend to be smart and debate crazy political topics or have in-depth spiritual discussions. I don’t have to worry that she is going to say something because I am a few pounds overweight and I...

Hello, my friends, How are you doing today? It is summer and hot here in Okinawa, but I love it. I am a girl from the sunshine state and I love the sun. I love the smell, I love the feel of it on my skin. And yes, I'm a Nurse. I know too much sun is bad for you. But I just love it. I spent 8 years prior to living here in Germany, where you hardly ever see the sun. I missed it so much like an old friend. So thankful we are reunited.
Today, my friends, we are going to talk about boundaries. This comes up a lot in my Master's program of Psychology and Addiction Counseling, in the opportunities I have to work with recovery support groups and in my coaching.
I just read a quote that said.
"When someone tries to trigger you by insulting you or by doing or saying something that irritates you, take a deep breath, and switch off your ego. Remember that if you are easily offended you are easily manipulated"
I would add to that, recognize...
Hello, Peggy Moore, here with the Discover Your Personal Power Podcast.
How are things? How are you guys holding up my friends among all this coronavirus craziness? It's been a little painful here. So, you guys know I live in Okinawa, Japan, and work for the department of the defense school system here. I am a school Nurse and my husband teaches 6th-grade math. We both love our jobs. Our jobs pay for our beautiful home on the beach and they also pay for us to go home every summer. This was one of my conditions for keeping a job overseas. If I can go home and be with my kids for three months in summer and we can find some way to be with them at Christmas, we could make this work. And so far we have been overseas over twelve years and always been able to make that work. With our kids coming to us in the summer or us going to them.
Well, of course, this year with the coronavirus that is not happening. Japan has been very strict with...

Alright so let’s get started, I put out an inquiry on Facebook, to see what people wanted to hear about and one of my dear friends who is a Marriage and Family counselor herself, said Resilience. I loved this. I worked for the government alongside military personnel in the hospital at Landstuhl Regional medical center in the Intensive Care Unit form 2009-2016 where we took care of patients that were injured in Afghanistan and Iraq. It was...
Hello my friends, It is July 29, 2020. My birthday is tomorrow. Whohoo! I love birthday time, it is a fun time to reflect and look at my past year and what I have accomplished and what I want to accomplish in this next year. Pretty exciting. I also just got done with my first ever FB Live. I am part of an entrepreneurial group and we do challenges or little workshops for each other. I did this one on personality types and it was such fun. Maybe, I’ll put it up on the website for you guys to check out if you want.
I want to give a shout out to my friend New York Nanny who wrote “so sick of Covid restrictions. Peggy’s thoughts on resiliency are just what I needed to hear. Thank you so much for leaving a review on iTunes. I am so glad I was able to provide content for you that was valuable.
Today we are talking about beliefs. Beliefs are the foundations for our thoughts.
Beliefs create maps...
How to deal with difficult people and keep your cool
I think dealing with difficult people who want to criticize, spout anger, hate, and unkindness is one of the biggest challenges when you are trying to live a life of authenticity, peace, purpose, and power.
When dealing with difficult people or people who say unkind things, it is so easier to hurl words that are unkind and hurtful right back at them. This is called mirroring. This is our emotional brain on default. Remember our emotional brain is our primitive brain. This part of our brain is responsible for emotions and the fight or flight system. When someone says unkind things to us or does something we think is unkind or a fight or flight system takes notice and seeks to protect us. It tells us to fight - say mean things back or flee, go somewhere safe with our tail between our legs. This puts a little ding in our soul with either response.
If we fight, we may inevitably say things...
Hello, my friends, Peggy Moore here with the Discover your personal power podcast. As a former Trauma ICU nurse, I love pathophysiology. I love learning how the body and mind work. And I especially love talking about the brain. Today, I am going to talk about how we can train our brains to help us live a life of peace, purpose, and power. Understanding how your brain works can help when targeting new behaviors and trying to change bad habits.
Let’s learn together how to manage our minds or control our brains.
We make decisions with two parts of our brain, the lower brain or the higher brain. The lower brain is also known as the primitive or emotional brain. The higher brain is the prefrontal cortex or executive functioning part of the brain.
Let’s talk about the lower brain for a minute.
Lower brain, primitive brain, or emotional brain is the part of our mind that is dominated by emotions. We have an emotion, and that emotion...
